November 2020 End of Watch Monthly Update
October 2020 - 17 Officers Down
While it has taken some time to sort through all the ins and outs of the recent annual End of Watch Memorial Ruck, we are proud to announce that thanks to the amazing turnout and support we were able to raise over twenty thousand dollars! We cannot thank everyone enough for all they did to help the event be such a huge success. These funds are already helping the families of fallen law enforcement officers.
Thank you again to the sponsors, volunteers, and athletes who gave their time and support for the cause. On that note, be on the lookout for one last announcement in next month's newsletter.
While subject to change, October reports show 17 officers down in the line of duty. This has been an unprecedented year regarding officers down in the line of duty. The current count for the year-to-date reflects a total of 241. While I’m not sure what the answer is to this growing number, I know that we at the End of Watch Foundation will remain vigilant in honoring their service to their community and providing assistance where we can.
If you know of a situation where we can help, please let us know through this link.
If you would like to join us in our mission to honor the fallen and support those still on watch by starting a satellite monthly End of Watch Memorial Ruck in your area, please reach out through this link provided. Alternatively, you can join us by simply throwing some weight in your ruck and getting some miles in around your neighborhood. We’ve been seeing your posts and are proud of what you are doing out there.
The goal is to do a mile for each officer down in the line of duty while carrying 20 pounds to match the average weight in duty gear an officer carries on a daily basis. While this is the goal, please adjust the weight and miles to your capabilities.
Thank you for your continued support, look forward to seeing everyone soon!
Take care,
Caleb Cook, President
