August 2019 End of Watch Monthly Update
August 2019 - 8 Officers Down
July has left us with eight more families grieving the loss of a loved one who died while working to help create a safer and stronger community. As I read through the bios for the officers, I am, once again, brought to a realization of how fragile life can be. The thought of not returning home would be crippling for most people but these officers overcame this lingering reminder and acted bravely and swiftly, knowing they have people depending on them. We will honor their sacrifice.
Please join us in honoring the fallen by symbolically carrying the weight for them for just a little while. Actions speak louder than words and we challenge you to step up and speak out through yours. If you would like to join us in our mission to honor the fallen, you can do so by carrying a suggested minimum weight of twenty pounds in your rucksack (backpack) for a distance of one mile for each officer down. Twenty pounds is to match the average weight in duty gear an officer carries on a daily basis. So let the officers in your area know you are willing to help carry their weight for a while and walk a mile in their shoes by joining us this month.
Below are a list of areas that will be meeting to ruck together. Please contact us if you are interested in starting a monthly End of Watch Memorial Ruck in your area.
